Is this most inept crash-for-cash attempt? Bizarre moment pedestrian slaps car as he crosses the road and then calmly lies down behind it
- A pedestrian has been caught pretending to be hit by a car in northern Italy
- The man was caught by CCTV in the city of Verona faking a fall to the tarmac
- After trying to claim money, police investigated and realised it was just a scam
A pedestrian in Verona, Italy has been captured in a pathetic bid to earn some fast cash after pretending to be hit by a car on Monday.
The unknown pedestrian can be seen using a pedestrian crossing in the city, when a car cuts across his path.
Rather than curse after him and carry on the pedestrian slaps at the window as the car carries on past him.
After a brief pause the walker seems to get an idea, slowly falling to the ground in a very deliberate and cautious way.
There he continues to lie as other pedestrians seem to look back confused as to what he might be doing.
As the cross-walk begins to clear the fallen walker shows no signs of getting up, having committed totally to the act.
As the grey Fiat Panda passes the walker by he can be seen to slap at the windows in an effort to get their attention
Seeing a chance for some quick cash the man haphazardly falls to the ground feigning injuries he would later try and use to claim money back from the driver’s insurance
Local media report the pedestrian was later taken to hospital but doctors did not find any injuries.
The man reportedly tried to claim money on insurance from the accident and the police tried to reconstruct the incident.
However, when they saw the CCTV footage they reportedly realised it was an alleged scam.
It is unclear whether the pedestrian will face any punishment over the incident.
